Our Story

Project Kitchens is a family-run, local Kiwi business that launched their Tauranga kitchen store in 2015. In 2020 we launched our new online store which allows you to order your new kitchen from the comfort of your own home.

At the heart of everything we do, is our mission to give customers complete control and to ensure they get the best possible price on our stylish European kitchens.

We like to think of ourselves as a mini Ikea-style business and we think this model fits perfectly with our DIY Kiwi culture.

The owner and founder, who grew up in the family business, has been manufacturing kitchens for more than 30 years.

After years working for multi-national brands such as Nestle, he saw the potential for the Ikea model of kitchens in New Zealand; European made, stylish flat-pack kitchens at an affordable price.

He then went on to take over the family kitchen manufacturing business in Tauranga, but couldn’t shake the idea of somehow bringing the Ikea experience to everyday New Zealanders.

He first trialed the idea in Tauranga in 2015, and after experiencing huge success, they dropped the manufacturing business to dedicate their time to growing Project Kitchens nationally. Project Kitchens now has showrooms in Tauranga, Hamilton, Napier, Manukau, and Penrose/Greenlane.

Project Kitchens’ ability to deliver anywhere in New Zealand, with happy customers ordering out of Wellington down to as far a field as Invercargill – we truly are a national success story.
